Admin: Comments form change because of spam attacks

A Motley Vision has recently suffered several attacks of comment spam. This has necessiated activation of Blogger's only spam defense -- a word verification system.

However, activating the word verification means that the Metempsychosis hack doesn't work as smoothly as intended. Commenters can still use the form at the bottom of each post, but when they submit their comment, they will then be asked to type in the word verification and will need to either click the 'anonymous' button or input their Blogger username and password.

Now, one might ask why I don't just ditch the hack and force everyone to use the Blogger form.

Two reasons:

1. The Metempsychosis form is still superior, imo, to the Blogger form.

2. More importantly, the Metempsychosis comments hack means that the front page of the blog lists the most recent comments. Since AMV generates a low yet steady number of quality comments, this is a service that is of great benefit, in my opinion. And it's one that -- to my knowledge -- Blogger doesn't offer.

I apologize for the inconvenience and hope that it doesn't discourage would-be commenters. I will also look for other solutions -- Some short term; some long term (i.e. a move to Drupal, WordPress, etc.). Suggestions are welcome. E-mail address is near the top of the left column.
