News: Deseret Book buys Excel

Sorry for the lack of posting -- flu has raged through the Morris household. I hope to get back to regular blogging later this week, but I had to take just a minute to post this breaking news:

According to KSL-TV, Deseret Book (the largest Mormon publisher/bookseller) is buying Excel Entertainment (one of the two major Mormon film distributors as well as a small recording and publishing company).

And here's a quote from DB chairman Robert H. Garff:

"The real winners in this merger are the families who are interested in wholesome entertainment," said Garff. "There are so many products that downgrade our society. The alternatives that Deseret Book and Excel provide are so needed and wanted. I am personally thrilled that these two great companies have found a way to combine publishing and distribution together for the betterment of our communities."
